According to the Associated General Contractors of America, Illinois is second in the nation in construction job gains.

Over the past month, Illinois has added 3,500 construction jobs. More importantly, between June 2013 and June 2014, the state’s construction industry added 7,300 jobs – a 3.8 percent increase. Those numbers make Illinois the current leader in Midwest construction jobs.
