Illinois continues to be one of the top destinations in the United States for international visitors. In 2012, Illinois had more than 2 million visitors, which ranked 6th in the country. Chicago had 1.4 million visitors.
The economic impact of international travel directly generated more than 23,000 jobs in Illinois. These visitors also spent more than $2.5 billion in 2012. Total tax revenue that resulted from international travel was almost $470 million.
