As the holidays are nearing us, many museums in the state are offering free admission dates throughout the month of December! If you are looking free, family fun activities check out the locations and dates below:

  • Adler Planetarium: Wednesdays 4-10 p.m. (Dec. 11, 18)
  • American Writers Museum: 3rd Sunday of the month (Dec. 15)
  • Art Institute of Chicago Dec. 6, 9, 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Chicago Botanic Garden: Dec. 9-15
  • Brookfield Zoo: Mondays and Tuesdays (Dec. 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 30)
  • Museum of Contemporary Art: Tuesdays (Dec. 10, 17, 24, 31)
  • Chicago History Museum: Dec. 18
  • DuSable Museum of African American History: Wednesdays (Dec. 11, 18)
  • Garfield Park Conservatory: Always free for Chicago residents
  • The Field Museum: Dec. 11, 18
  • Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center: Dec. 27
  • Lincoln Park Zoo: Always free
  • National Museum of Mexican Art: Always free
  • Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: Thursdays (Dec. 12, 19, 26)
  • National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture: Always free
  • Shedd Aquarium: Dec. 10 and 17 from 5-9 p.m.
