Several Illinois hospitals took top rankings in Newsweek’s annual list of the top 200 hospitals in the world. Illinois’ top hospitals in 2021 are Northwestern Memorial Hospital (58), Rush University Medical Center (75), and the University of Chicago Medical Center (101-200).
The “World’s Best Hospitals” rankings compare more than 2,000 hospitals across 25 different countries. The rankings are based on recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, and key performance indicators.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital is the top ranked hospital in Illinois, standing in at #58 in the world and #15 in the United States. Located in Chicago, Illinois, this university medical is recognized for providing exemplary patient care and innovative advancements in a variety of clinical areas, including cardiovascular care, oncology, neurology and neurosurgery, geriatrics, solid organ and soft tissue transplants, and orthopedics.
Rush University Medical Center is ranked #75 in the world and #19 in the United States. The University of Chicago Medical Center is the third highest ranking hospital from Illinois. It is ranked within the top 200 hospitals in the world and is #24 in the United States. The center is a state-of-the-art hospital on the University of Chicago campus in Hyde Park with a focus on cancer, digestive diseases, neurosciences, advanced surgery, and high-tech medical imaging.
