COVID-19 seldom gives frontline heroes time to eat a hot meal, which is why Kris Schoenberger’s BBQ-d Productions is giving free hot BBQ to many health-care workers, police officers and firefighters.

Schoenberger has implemented a system in which members of the community can buy sandwiches at discounted prices, then he personally delivers those sandwiches to the brave people on the frontlines.

“Feeding all these first responders and hospital workers, that’s what mom and I did all the time,” Schoenberger said. “So I feel like there’s a higher power giving me the strength to do what I’m doing.”

The pitmaster has a goal to serve 10,000 meals to first responders and other essential workers.

BBQ-d Productions has locations in Third Lake and Lake Zurich. The restaurants only remain open for carryout and deliveries.
